A teenager was killed in a head-on collision early Sunday morning in East Tulsa, according to local authorities. The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. on East 41st Street near the intersection of South 145th East Avenue, close to the Broken Arrow area.
Police reported that two vehicles collided head-on under circumstances that remain under investigation. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and discovered a young male driver critically injured inside one of the vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities say that individual is expected to survive.
Preliminary findings from investigators indicate that the teenage driver who died may have crossed into oncoming traffic, leading to the collision. However, police emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing and that details surrounding the cause of the crash could change as additional evidence is reviewed.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification of family members. Traffic in the area was temporarily affected while investigators processed the scene and cleared the roadway.
Anyone with information related to the crash is encouraged to contact local law enforcement as the investigation continues.
